The Steal: A polka-dot waist belt for RM 9.90.

Yes, the most adorable belt for less than RM 10!

I've been down with "nocturnal coughing" for more than two weeks now. It's not as bad as a cold but I'm just not very good at being unwell as I get super cautious with some things, like bundling up as to not get chilly.
Which explains why I'm wearing two layers of clothing outdoor, which doesn't make much sense in this hot and humid country.

It has been raining a bit more often lately so on one particularly cool, cloudy late afternoon, Shah dragged me out of our house for a little walk in a park (arming himself with the camera), as I've been cooped up in the house too much and in much need of fresh air.
The fresh air did me so much good, I felt loads better afterwards.

It also helped to hold on to the quote "When you look good, you feel good."
Not going on a whim and say I look good here, but can't say I didn't try!
Another trick I use when wearing layers? Fold up the sleeves of the top layer a quarter way up to showcase the sleeves underneath for an interesting effect.
That Shah, he knows how to make me smile
If the park weren't so cool and shady, I would've profusely sweated under the two layers but it was such a nice temperature at the time. I was really glad Shah took me out.

The belt is from a shop called Twenty Second Concept in Tropicana City Mall. I like going into these random little boutiques in malls because you never know, something adorably unexpected and unique might catch your eyes and if you're in luck, it might just be dirt-cheaplike this belt!

Sandalwood Beige is discontinued in Malaysia?

    Say it isn't so!

I recently surveyed Revlon's many gorgeous lipstick shades in a pharmacy and noticed the absence of Sandalwood Beige. When asked, one of the salesgirls replied, "That shade is discontinued lah, sorry."

You mean the exact lipstick shade Halle Berry wore in her amazing Revlon Super Lustrous ads (albeit years ago) is no longer available to be purchased?

I went home and immediately checked if Sandalwood Beige is still amongst the 82 shades that Revlon Super Lustrous range offers and to my relief, it is.
Although I shouldn't be too relieved, because as available it is to the rest of the world, Malaysians no longer have the luxury of freely owning a new tube of Sandalwood Beige.

For now I just need to enjoy my remaining Sandalwood Beige then, which I re-discovered and am loving at the moment.

I've been going to Port Dickson since forever, it seems. My family and I would stay at our family condominium and my siblings and I would ride the bicycles, go swimming, picnic at the beach and eat seafood at night.

I haven't done a proper PD trip since I went to study in Christchurch so I was excited to go there again with Shah and my family. The best part was this time around we had our nephew Rayyan and niece Arya coming along, who are obviously the two most adorable human beings ever.

Port Dickson has had a facelift, definitely! It even has a Starbucks now.

My favourite part of Port Dickson is definitely PD Waterfront, hands down. The blue sea, the trendy-like cafes and restaurants, the yachts and the billowy trees; I almost, almost felt like I was in Australia or Lisbon!

Aside from Starbucks, you can find McDonald's, Kenny Rogers, a kopitiam, a nasi arab restaurant and a bunch of other restaurants as well. There's also conveniently a big supermarket in the square at the center, and I spotted Pizza Hut across the square too.

So you claimed your blogspot blog on Bloglovin' ages ago and were starting to gain followers there. But then you decided to ditch your blogspot URL for a fantastic, brand-new personal custom domain.

How do you change your blog name and blog URL in your Bloglovin' account now without losing (and confusing) any of your existing followers?

In Bloglovin', you're allowed to change the name of your blog, and it's really easy to do too. Here's how:

    1. Click on the tiny downward arrow at the top part of your account, next to your round icon.
    2. Click "Blog analytics" and you will arrive at this page:

note: Photo taken after I've changed my blog name and url in Bloglovin'. And yes, I have 5 followers to date so feel free to follow my blog and increase the number (and make my day in the process!)

    3. Click on "Edit blog info".
     4. This box will come up:

note: Photo taken after I've changed my blog name and url in Bloglovin'

Now just delete your old blog name, type the new one and click "Save". It's done!

But this step changes the NAME of the blog only. There is no section in your Bloglovin' account where you can edit your url; Bloglovin' actually doesn't allow users to edit their url for security reasons.

This doesn't mean that you're stuck with your old url forever though, so fret not!

So how can you change your old url to a new url in Bloglovin', without losing any of your follower?

    1. Click the same tiny downward arrow at the top in Bloglovin'.
    2. Click "Help", and you will get here:

    3. Here you can find a bunch of FAQ's, all of which are very helpful. But I couldn't find one that relates to the exact problem I was having, which is to change my url and maintain my followers.
Don't worry; now, just scroll down to the very bottom of the page.

    Then click on "Contact support".
    4. Fill in what needs to be filled in and click "Send message" after you're done. Don't forget to provide your email address!

Bloglovin' must have an AMAZING support team, because they took less than 5 minutes to fix my dilemma. This is what I typed on their support page:

    And this was their reply:

I got a reply in about four (four!) minutes. Kudos to the Bloglovin' team!

I didn't forget to click on the "Click to give Johanna Carlberg thanks!", because I really was grateful for her help! Bloglovin' put up photos of the individuals in their team so I was able to put a face to the person who saved my Bloglovin' account's day.

I hope this post helps you if you're facing the same problem as I was. If you find this post helpful, please do let me know in the comment box down below, and follow me on Bloglovin' too!
Don't forget to leave your blog url when you leave a comment because I love checking out new blogs.

Update (15/3/2016): Bloglovin' seems to have settled this issue, so you can check out their page right here for more info.
PS: I have 45 followers now and a looong way to go! It's a super slow growth but, hey, it's still growing, right? If you haven't followed me AND you kind of like my blog, click here to follow Affordorable (and make my day in the process)! xo

This blog is currently undergoing a tiny facelift.

I recently edited some things so that most photos will be much wider and have the same uniformed width but by doing so, some of the older photos might appear blurry.

I am in the process of fixing that, by either re-uploading the photos or substituting with newly-taken photos, so please bear with me.

I hope that you still enjoy perusing through Affordorable!

Does the The Rolling Stones long-sleeved tshirt + delicate deep orange palazzo pants combination work, or does it not?

As a hijabi who lives in a hot and humid country where layering doesn't always permit, I find it challenging to make dressing up interesting. I rely on my trusted jeans most of the times but as versatile as they are, it's possible to get bored of jeans, believe it or not.

Palazzo pants are generally dainty and super feminine which is why I love these particular pair; the burnt orange colour makes them a tad snappy, plus they fit me well around my hips (hips just don't lie).

I'm a little bored of pairing the pants with delicate, dainty tops so I tried pairing them with an edgier, more casual top: my Rolling Stones tshirt.

I can't figure out if I myself like this look or not, to be honest.

Jonker Walk is one of my favourite places to walk through in Malaysia.

It's one of those places with that great, cheery energy. Plus, if you have a little extra money to spend, Jonker Walk is a great place to pick up knickknacks and add a few interesting things to your closet as well!

A word of caution: be mindful of your belongings when in the street! Any place where people walk elbow to elbow is sure to be a thriving pickpocket spot.

Shah and I made a trip to one of our favourite cities in Malaysia, Bandaraya Melaka, over the weekend.

I probably tried 50 frames before I finally decided on one good pair. If I were less picky, it would have been 150 frames I tried on, I should think.

My previous frames kept getting looser and looser as there's no spring connecting the handles to the lens frames. I also think they were much too big for me.

See? Like I said, too big for my face. I guess I still look pretty cute (ehem) but they're just too big. I bought these particular frames in a hurry and in desperation in Paris, after I lost my glasses while shopping in La Vallee. Drama, that was.

I do like relatively big frames but I realise how overwhelming they could look on my face. At the same time, if I go for frames that are small, I feel they closed up the eye area too much though, and would emphasize the size of my face more than I'd like—does that make sense?—but anything that makes your eyes smaller than they are and makes your face bigger than it is is not flattering in my book.

It all comes down to proportions!

    2.4.14 .

I happen to take buying glasses (you might call them 'spectacles') very seriously for a few reasons:
    • Glasses frames are expensive
    • Lens are expensive
Actually, come to think of it, there's only one reason why buying a new pair of glasses is serious business: because they are EXPENSIVE.

It's not impossible to cut down on the $$$, of course; you could always pick cheaper, generic frames and get the non-anti-anything lens. In my personal opinion, however, a pair of glasses is an investment that could (and should) last for years, so putting in a little effort and research into getting the best pair will be only completely beneficial.

So what are the things you could do before ordering and purchasing your latest glasses?

Determine the style or styles of frames that flatter your face shape

Scout for the shape of frames you like best by either sneakily observing people on the streets or looking at photos of celebrities in glasses. Make a mental note of the styles you likeor even better, screen-capture the photos (don't go around taking photos of strangers, now!) for reference.

An important thing to note: glasses frames that look good on, say, Jennifer Aniston will not necessarily look good on you. Those huge, thick, black "hipster" frames might look mighty pretty on the bridge of your bestie's nose but it could look too out of place on you. We all have different facial features after all!

It's not about finding the prettiest and coolest pair of frames, it's about finding the prettiest and the coolest pair of frames for you.

I find that frames that mimic the shape of your look better than those that contrast. For example, a very sharp rectangular frame would look too harsh on someone with a round face.

Then again, at the end it should be about what YOU like and what YOU feel comfortable in.

Know some basic differences in types of frames
    • Nose pads vs. no nose pads? p/s: nose pads are now apparently unfashionable as it appears they're being phased out
    • Plastic or metal frames?
    • Asian-fitted plastic frames might just be the one for you (find out more about this in your local eyewear shops)
    • Strong and sturdy vs. crazy flexibility?
    • With spring or no spring? (note: spring-less glasses would need tightening once in a few months)
    • Rimless vs. half-rimmed vs. fully-rimmed

Try on as many frames as possible in different shops

Feel free to skip the steps above and dive right into this one! Find out all about the different types of frames in the stores themselves. Try out as many frames as you can in various shops to find out what your preferences are and what shapes suit you best.

Most importantly, bring a trusted partner who can be brutally honest about which frames look most good on you!

Find out the different types of lens offered from the shops you visited

Different shops might offer different brands and types of lens so ask around for information before you decide which ones appeal to you the most. Remember, you don't have to buy your frames and lens from the same shop.

I feel like lens now are so technological, it's so easy to get confused over which lens to pick! This is why it's important to build a good relationship with your optometrist: trust comes with a good relationship and with trust, the chance of being screwed over will be significantly lessened!

Another advantage of having a good relationship with your optometry shop? If you're having difficulties with the glasses you purchase from them, it'd be a relief to know they will try to assist you in solving the problem.

Zoom in on the best deal

Eyewear shops always, always have sales going on; I got mine in the Grand Prix sales. I would suggest waiting for a sale season to get your new frames, providing you hadn't just broken your glasses into two pieces or lost them and are therefore desperate for new ones. The discount on frames during sales can go up to 60%, or even 70%, so it's definitely worth the wait.

The frames I ended up choosing had a pretty hefty price tag on them, I must say. I never spent so much on a pair of frames but these frames were like the one I suppose! Lucky for me, Shah (you know, the one who pays the bills) loved the frames as much as I did. Plus, it was from a respectable brand and they were 30% off!

I found my frames on sale in a shop in Tropicana City Mall. This shop has another branch in 1 Utama which sells the same pair of frames but Shah and I got a RM40-off deal from the already-discounted price in the Tropicana branch as we were already well acquainted with a nice salesperson working there.

This Tropicana branch is selling their lenses for a cheaper price than the eyewear shop I regularly went to as well, so remember to note the price difference in different shops too.

So there you go, the five tips!

Are these tips helpful (or going to be helpful) to you as they were for me? If they are, do let me know in the comment box down below. Thanks and all the best in your glasses quest!

Shah, Rina, Ira and I made a quick visit to the 6th International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2014 this past weekend.

We arrived in Precint 2, Putrajaya around 6pm and were relying on seeing hot air balloons up in the sky to see where the event was held but spotted none. So we followed the crowd instead—turns out the balloons weren't released into the air just yet!

The four of us stayed for a little bit and got to watch a couple of them fly but decided to leave early due to the humidity and crowd (will be going in jeans and a thin top next time).

It was a pretty delightful event I must say. You can choose to stay as long as you want as they have all the necessities prepared: food trucks, tables and chairs, picnic area, portable toilets and prayer area. As long as you don't mind the heat, of course!

I do wish we could have witnessed the release of the Darth Vader hot air balloon. Or at the very least, face it up front!

Here are some other photos my camera captured:
