    Trend Love: Blue Eye Makeup

Bold, bright blues are making a big comeback as a big colour trend in the makeup world recently, as previously seen on the models strutting in Marc by Marc Jacobs show and on Jennifer Hudson at the AMA. I'm excited that it's seeping into 2015 because I happen to be a sucker for anything electric blue (e.g. that sweater and my background wall), which means I'm definitely jumping on the bandwagon!

I just watched an old movie that I've always loved called Strictly Ballroom, a 1992 dance movie in which some of the characters had all these bright blue eyeshadow on. The blues were so bright but yet they all looked quite fashionablein the gaudiest way possible, I suppose! You just name any blue hueturquoise, azure, cobalt blue—and you could probably find all shades of blue eyeshadows in that movie.

For what felt like the longest time, everyone was saying how tacky blue eye makeup is but isn't it funny and incredibly awesome how the blues have now made a grand entrance in the makeup world again?

Here I'm using the Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner in Electro Shock; I'm not sure if I would ever have the guts to pull of bright blue eyeshadow all over the lid so for me, a thick bright blue liner would be sufficient. Other easy ways to do the trend without using a liquid liner is to smudge blue eye pencil around the eyes, or you could just wet a small angled brush and dip it into a blue shadow and line above your lids.

I'm kind of into matching blue and orange together so I might match a swipe of blue liner with a bright orange lippie next time. A bit much? Sounds a little crazy, but we'll see how that goes...

So what do you think? Would you ever try out the blue eye makeup trend yourself?

    2. Ah you're rocking that blue eyeliner! I've never really known how to wear blue but you've inspired me to dig out my metallic navy pencil liner now:) It's nice to switch it up once in a while. That blue eyeliner + orange lips combo sounds pretty awesome!

      1. Hi Khalida,

Thank youuu. Well, I'm still shying away from applying bright blue eyeshadow all over the lid but I definitely still think a hint of blue liner would look good on just about anybody. So I'm pretty positive it'll look good on you, too!

I do wish I could have a look when you do try it out, though!
