Caftan from Mecca for Eid outfit 2017
No doubt, the effort I put into my Eid's outfit this year was considerably a lot less than last year's green, gold and black one. Shah and I decided not to buy anything new this year, opting to wear these dark chocolate brown baju kurung and baju Melayu we've worn from a few years back.
    Well, at first, anyway...

There were a lot of back-and-forths happening inside my head because on one hand I've always liked the idea of wearing the traditional baju kurung on Eid, but on the other hand it would've been so nice to wear something new!

In the end, "something new" won and I ended up in this beautiful caftan Shah's mom brought back for me when she performed umrah in Mecca last year; I never got around to wearing it as I kept waiting for a special occasion to put it on, and there's nothing more special than Eid.

On that note: Eid Mubarak and Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to my Muslim readers! I hope you all are having a wonderful first week of this Syawal month.
Let's continue the positive deeds we did and good thoughts we harboured during the previous holy month of Ramdhan. Always be thankful for what we have been blessed with! Take the time to remember our less fortunate sister and brothers around the world who are not able to embrace this occasion as freely as we can, and don't forget to pray for them. Always be kind and generous to everyone around you, regardless of their race, belief, and faith.

Loads and LOADS of love to you all!

    Extra notes:
    - Baju kurung (for female) and baju Melayu (for male) are the traditional wears the Malays wear in Malaysia; here is a sample of a modernised baju kurung I wore last year for a wedding.
    - It is the norm for couples and family members to be all matchy-matchy in their traditional wears during Eid! Shah decided to wear a robe (also from Mecca!) instead of the usual baju Melayu this Eid, where my scarf perfectly matches his robe as you can see on my Instagram, or see our matching green Eid outfits from last year (with Shah in his baju Melayu!).

The thing is, there are many, many days when I go out and not shoot my outfit, either because there is no time or because I didn't bother totting around my SLDR camera with me. Do you guys know how many unshared OOTDs that is? LOADS, but let me be honest outright and say those un-shot outifts are always subpar (and comprised of whatever things are hanging on the I-wore-this-yesterday clothes rack, as I'm normal and human like that).

Plus, I've always much preferred sharing good-quality photos from my DSLR but I had a good iPhone day on this day, and I REALLY like my new Alice socks that my sister got for me, so I hope you guys won't mind that  share my iPhone outfit here <3 (PS: These pics are already up on my Instagram!)

Today is the last day of Ramadhan this year, which always feels melancholic as there really is some sort of magic in the air during Ramadhan days, but we have Eid to look forward to tomorrow! As always, the days before Eid get superrr busy, which means less update here on my blog. Anyway, hopefully I'll get to share tomorrow's outfit real soon XO

Zara Food Mood Sweater Ripped Boyfriend Jeans

Long-sleeved tops like Food Mood one from Zara is just perfect for my hijabi closet. It's thin enough and comfortable (Malaysia is HOT, guys), the quirky statement is so much fun, and it's versatile; you can dress it up with a fancy skirt or match its casualness with your favourite ripped boyfriend jeans!

PS: See more of my favourite ripped boyfriend jeans with plaid and ruffles top.

These shots were taken at Ewha Womans University in Seoul (it really is "Womans" and not "Women" or "Woman's", I double checked!), which looks like the prettiest-looking uni from the front facade, guaranteed to feel cool on a hot sumer day with the shady green canopy trees surrounding the front steps.

I swear I wanted to take a photo of the front steps but I made the mistake of turning to my right too early and my eyes met the coolest sight, front steps all forgotten: a slope going downwards flanked by tall glass structures with high steps at the very end of it. I walked along the slope to see students in library (well, it looks like a library!) and in brightly-lit rooms on my left and right, studying (or surfing the net, who knows) and it almostALMOSTmade me feel like I want to go back to school.

I wished had gotten more photos around the uni but was unable to as Shah and I were fast losing light as were snapping these outfit photoswhich also meant we needed to get ready to break our fast and perform the Maghrib prayers (it was the first week of Ramadhan when we were in Seoul!).
I hope you guys like these photos, regardless. xo

I was invited by Neutrogena early last month to an event (#sofancy) where they unveiled the Happy Skin 24/7 fashion collection created by two local fashion designers Kittie Yiyi and Hazzer Wan Lee. Shah and I made a fun date out of it because it's not every night we get to be all dressed up!

Note: Because it's always me and only me who's just dressed up. Me. Alone.

That being said, I stayed pretty casual that night, wearing this matching set silk-like "pyjama" from Mango with this super adorable Alice In Wonderland clutch I scored at Shanghai Disneyland. I did dress up my simple garb a bit with one of my rare pairs of heels from Zara, though!
Shah on the other hand definitely stepped up his dressing game, wearing the light blue blazer (coolest powder blue blazer anyone's ever seen, I swear) I talked him into buying when we were in Pull & Bear in Madrid a few years ago. (Excuse the indulgent selfie, guys.)

I use the free blue-purple Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Oil To Foam makeup remover I got in the free swag bag (a miniature version of the one in the photo below) whenever I need to remove full-face makeup now, which is wayyy better than their regular cleansing oil! I've tried a few other "drugstore" cleansing oil but the Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Oil To Foam is so far the only one that can rival Shu Uemura's famed cleansing oilwhich kind of breaks the bank, hence my quest of looking for an affordable sub.

Thank you Neutrogena Malaysia for giving us a memorable night!

Sheer Layer Under A Top Style
I think I need more sheer tops like this just for the sake of having them as a decorative extra layer under any regular top...certainly makes an otherwise normal outfit like sweater + jeans appear a little bit more interesting, doesn't it? (PS: Blinged out shiny sneakers don't hurt, either.)

Striped black and white pants like Beetlejuice
I grew up watching Beetlejuice and it gave me nightmares, so safe to say I can't even fully comprehend my own obsession with itcan't tell you guys how many times I've said "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice" (or "Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse", whichever way you look at it) in the past just to prove to myself how not intimidated I was by the idea of him actually appearing.

ALL I need is a striped black-and-white blazer to match my pants, and my goal to one day look like the female hijabi version of Beetlejuice would be achieved. (Perhaps I just really like vertical thick black-and-white stripes...? Like I LOVE this bag, too.)

Zara Eyelet Skirt Statement Sweater Kate Spade Dice Bag
I've decided that I don't know how to dress like "a lady".

Actually, no, it's not like I don't know, so to be more accurateI just don't want to.

                       •     •     •     •     •     •     •

I was rummaging through a rack of skirts and when my eyes rested on this one, my second thought after the first "MUST OBTAIN THIS" was: would it suit my modest dressing? It appeared more tea-length so I went one size up so that it would rest lower on my hipsand yesss length problem successfully taken care of! (Note: Trust me, this trick doesn't work for every single skirt out there.) The lining underneath was even shorter but nothing a good plain black skirt layered underneath can't do.

So now that the skirt sits pretty on me, what do I match it with? My inner sartorial compass' pointed to: an oversized "Food Mood" sweater. And a kitschy dice bag (love it or hate it well I LOVE IT) with peep toe booties. And fishnet socks, because look at how adorably matchy-matchy they are with the eyelets!

PS:  As much as I adore owning them booties (seen previously with flare jeans and ripped jeans), pretty darn sure you'll be seeing sneakers with this skirt next time...

I'm weirdly excited to experiment more with this skirt in the futureperhaps with a plain white shirt...? That being said, what would you dress up this skirt with?

In case you didn't know, I have been away to Seoul for the past week, but have now safely arrived in Malaysia. It's already the second week of Ramadhaneeek, time sure flies!so it's been about settling back into normalcy after our packed week in Korea.

I didn't have time to update my blog almost at all except to let you all know I was there, but now that I have loads of posts lined up I'm looking forward to blogging again!

I shot this super casual (sans makeup!) a week before Seoul, featuring my 11-year-old bag. Freakin' ELEVEN YEARS, guys. I'm sure many of you own plenty of good vintage leather bags older than that but this is personally for me the oldest one. And you know what, I didn't even know it was leather when I bought it; I was a fresh uni student in New Zealand who loved bargains a little too much (way more than now, if you can imagine!) without appreciating details or sustainability. All I cared about was I saw a Rocawear bag on saleRocawear being founded by Jay Z was what mattered to me at the time, mah God, not even kiddingand I snapped it up.

Eleven years later and it's still doing really good, so at least I had one good thing coming out of that shopping phase...I guess?

PS: Bag recently worn with this "jammies" and my first ever Converse.
