Eid Outfit on Mak: Modern Baju Kurung

22 July 2017

In case you're not from this side of the world, "Mak" is what I call my mommeeyh!

My mom, my little sister, and I went to an open house together with Shah after which I took the opportunity  to not only photograph the traditional baju kurung I had on but also my mom and my sister Rina's outfits of the day.

Note: "Open house" is what we call those Eid events where the host invites people over and these people basically just mingle about and most importantly EAT delicious Eid food that Malaysians love. Also the word "house" is used loosely in this term; we went to a hall on this particular day that was "open" from 2:30-6:30pm filled with thousands of people at a time with the yummiest selection of food, mmm.

My mom wore this pretty green baju kurung with a beautiful matching scarf. Unlike my traditional loose cut (oops, I mean her traditional loose cut), this green one is the more modern version with a slight narrower waist.

Actually my mom has no idea I'm posting this up on my blog (will tell her after I hit the "Publish" button!) but she looks so pretty here, I'm sure she won't mind <3

Rina's outfit is coming up so keep your eyes peeled for that!

  1. Oh my Gosh!
Your Mum is BEAUTIFUL... and you are her absolute double Liyana...I was quite taken aback!
Such a pretty outfit worn with such poise.
The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree does it?

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet, sweet comment, Samantha <3 <3 <3
She is beautiful, isn't she? =)
I do think I resemble her a lot, and so do many others, but she actually thinks I look more like my dad!

  2. Oh yes!!!! I'm very impressed by your mom's taste. These are unique golden-green colors and so beautiful!! Also I have been a lover of paisley prints from the time I was a little girl and buying a tie for my Dad's Christmas present! I love the pearl beading on her hijab as well. How nice to see your dear Mak! :-) Love, Jude

    1. I do seem to "steal" from her closet a bit... Haha! In fact, I might even "borrow" this green one in the future. Unlike my two sisters, I can fit into my mom's clothes better, as we were built similarly. She has the best selection of traditional wears but I do think she has very good taste in her everyday clothes as well!

My mom's collection of scarves is way fancier than mine; she buys only the good quality ones, mostly expensive chiffon and silky ones, and takes really good care of them. Total opposite of me, I must say; I buy $5 and chuck them in the washing machine for washing (but I'd usually set it to "delicate")!

I love paisley prints but I find it hard to find casual clothes with paisley print on them that suit me. I do have a couple of paisley-printed scarves though!
