is a virtual space where Liyana Aris documents her evolving modest personal style, which is based on the art of looking casually stylish while still remaining modest and doing it all on a budget; about 93% of her closet are filled with affordable things. Bohemian Denim Jacket (with Little Pom Poms!) & Red Ruffle Maxi Dress

Bohemian Denim Jacket with Little Pom Poms
Does everyone have one thing in their closet that they have too much of? I think it's pretty common for a person to think she has too many denim jeans (don't we all) but how about, say, denim jackets? Like, what is the normal number of denim jacket a girl should have in her closet?

I just remembered I blogged about how you can never own too many denim jackets, a post I just read again to jog my memory on what I had to say for the topic and DAYUM did I really buy six denim jackets in total from my Japan trips? I mean, I'm not surprised, looking at my denim jacket collection but still, dayummm  Japan really gave me the denim jacket bug!

It's funny how I "firmly" told myself in that post "no more blue denim jacket" because um yes I definitely got a couple of new ones since then, including this bohemian denim jacket. How could I resist? The back is so kitschy, and unlike some people who get turned off by kitsch I am all for a bit-to-a lot of it. I think it was the little pom poms hanging off the back that really hooked me in, all the way to the cashier.
(The fact that it was on sale and became affordable was a major factor too, of course.)

Denim Jacket with Pom Pom Sling Bag with Pom Poms
SO many ways to dress up this crazy jacket but this time around for my day out in Seoul, I matched it with my ruffle red dress and my colourful Converse sneakers (my first ever Converse sneakers, by the way), plus my new-ish baby green pom pom tasseled sling bag that made its debut in Affordorable with a black ruffles denim top.

Don't worry, I don't have a crazy number of denim jackets to share with you  nowhere near, say, 30 or whatever, not even 20 I'm sure (I haven't counted, but I'm pretty positive about this). Rest assured, I get a lot of use out of each and every jacket (I usually grab one on my way to the movies) so it's all good, guys!

It's been a while since I colour-block; I basically piled on a bunch of primary and secondary colours in this one extra-modest outfit!
I think this was a fun outfit to wear out but what do you guys think?

            1. I would buy this jacket in a heartbeat Liyana!! It's wonderfully colorful and the pom-poms make for Bohemian perfection!!! I probably EASILY have as many denim jackets as you! Many have been purchased at consignment or even charity shops. One of them i embellished with beading and like you i just can't get enough...
You look SO cute and the colors are vibrant and happy. Just like you!
Last night I commented on your darling Cinderella top but had some difficulty with sending (my problem not on your end). That top is really fun and I especially liked the color blocking feel of the shirt. I also liked Samantha's suggestion to wear it over a dress! Wouldn't it be cute if you could find a little floral print with tiny yellow and blue flowers on a black background? I also think a chunky black or floral print boot( Doc Martens?) would be great fun. Clearly denim is a great option as well! Love, Jude

              1. I just replied to your comment in the Cinderella post! I don't know if you remember this one black floral H&M dress I own? I wish there's something else like that in stores right now but I went window-shopping last couple of weeks (OK and I did a little but of shopping too) but I couldn't find any floral maxi dress like that. Tiny florals and that Cinderella top would be sweet together, and omg adding chunky boots to that mix sounds fire! I like it!

OK so it is TOTALLY normal to love denim jackets this much then! I'm glad you could confirm that for me, hahaha! I saw an embellished denim jacket in H&M just yesterday, it was beautiful. I don't own one of those yet!

I'm envious of people who have DIY skills. It's not so much that I cannot DIY, it's really more from lack of trying - and honestly, my lack of trying is really not from being lazy or whatever, it's more from me not wanting to ruin my clothes. I bought a whole load of patches earlier this year and every time I picked out a pair of denim jeans or denim jacket to put the patches on, I chickened out last minute! Then I'd say, maybe I should get a separate denim jeans / jacket JUST to put these patches on? But then I'd buy it, and then I would feel like but then I ALSO really like this new piece... It's a vicious cycle! (My patches ALL remain unused...)
